Willis Earl Brown, of Eureka, died on May 2, 2006, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 80.
He was born on November 14, 1925, in Eureka, the son of Earl L. and Lillian (Cecil) Brown. He was raised in the Eureka area and graduated from Tonovay High School. After schooling, Willis farmed and ranched which he did for the rest of his life. Ranching and farming become his life’s work and he loved it. He also liked spending time with his friends but he really loved spending time with his family.
On June 6, 1945, he married Mary Martha Stuber in Eureka, where they made their home and raised a family.
He was a member of the Greenwood County Farm Bureau, Climax Board of Education, ASCS Board, and was a 4H leader for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Martha; son Bobby D. Brown, and wife Janice; daughter-in-law, Peggy Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter Betty Kieffer, and fiancé Gary Schnoebelen; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Billy G. Brown, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 5, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverends Dr. Gilbert Daniel and Rhonda K. Almond of the Christian & Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
