William Earl “Bill” White, III of Eureka, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 51.
He was born on October 19, 1963, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of William Earl, Jr. and Ruth Jane (Blackburn) White. He was raised in Pennsylvania and New York attending Northwestern Lehigh Valley High School in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania and graduating from Lockport High School in Lockport, New York. After his schooling, he joined the United States Navy where he served with honor and dignity aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea, as an Aviation Fire Control Tech. He served from 1982 to 1986 during the Chadian-Libyan Conflict.
After his discharge, he lived in Jackson, Tennessee where he was a radio DJ, before going to work for Safety Clean as a salesman. He later moved to Memphis and worked for a limo service, where he met Michele Elliott. On May 12, 2001, Bill was united in marriage with Michele in Paola, Kansas. Bill began working for Mazda\Saturn in the service department. The family moved to Eureka in 2006 and Bill began working for Eddy’s Toyota in Wichita. He also worked for Clint Bowyer Auto Plex in Emporia, Kansas.
He was a member of the Neal Evangelical Free Church and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Michele of the home; two daughters, Sydney Elizabeth White and Shelby Amanda White of the home; parents, William and Ruth White of Nanjemoy, Maryland; and one sister, Tina Mickowski of Medina, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 19, 2015, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Sydney & Shelby Educational Trust Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
