Theron Lynn Wheeler of Eureka, died on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Eureka, at the age of 71.
He was born on July 9, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Leslie Luther and Velma Pauline (Gray) Wheeler. He attended several schools as the family traveled the United States while his father worked the pipeline. The family settled in Eureka, in the early 1960’s where Theron attended Eureka High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. He then went to work on the pipeline before enlisting in the United States Navy where he served with dignity and honor. Following his service, Theron went back to work on the pipeline. He later returned to Eureka and began working for Eureka Tire and Metal; a job he held until his death.
He is survived by one brother, Donnie “Wheels” Wheeler of Eureka; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Koup Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Dougherty officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to VFW Post #2712. Memorials may be left in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 575, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which is overseeing funeral arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online at koupfunerals.com.
