Terry Lee Dunham of Eureka, died on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at his home in rural Eureka, at the age of 78.
He was born on August 30, 1948, in Eureka, the son of James Albert and Norma June (Cannon) Dunham. He was raised in Burkett and Eureka, attending local schools and graduating from Eureka High School with the Class of 1967. He then attended Wichita Drafting College for two years. During that time, he was home over homecoming weekend where he met Marsha Lee Butler. They were united in marriage on July 21, 1972, in Neal, sharing 54 years together. They made their home in several different locales, including Newton and Moundridge, before returning to Greenwood County. To this union, two children were born.
Throughout his career, Terry worked as a draftsman, assisted his parents at Pyramid Lanes Bowling, and worked for both Maclaskey Oil and Flint Oak. He spent the majority of his working life in Emporia as a forklift operator for IBP, which later became Tyson Foods.
An avid outdoorsman, Terry spent his free time fishing, hunting, and taking his grandson, Barrett, to archery competitions. He especially enjoyed taking part in 4-H activities alongside his grandchildren, though nothing brought him more joy than simply spending quality time with them.
He was a member of the Neal Evangelical Free Church.
Terry is survived by his wife, Marsha of the home; his mother, Norma Dunham of Eureka; three children: Karen and husband, John DeCou of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Kindra and husband, Bret Lindsay of Cheney, Kansas; and Duke Dunham and partner Jackie Stovall of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Cole Long, MaKenna Turner, Broc DeCou, Barrett Pirtle, Kinley Pirtle, Wyatt Pirtle, and Jude Pirtle; one brother, Kirk and wife, Shelley Dunham of Council Grove, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Neal Cemetery, Neal, Kansas, with Pastor Larry Evans and Mr. Dan McVey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Neal Evangelical Free Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online at koupfunerals.com.
