Sylvia Higbee

Sylvia Higbee formerly of Yates Center, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at her home in Severy, at the age of 75.
Sylvia was born October 5, 1940, in Roselle, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Ann (Bitler) Meier. She was raised in the Severy area and graduated from Severy High School. On August 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to Orville Lee Higbee. They made their home in Yates Center. To this union, three children were born. She worked as an accountant in a distillery and ranched cattle with Orville. She was a dispatcher for the Woodson County Sheriff’s Office. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2014, at which time she moved to Severy.
Sylvia is survived by three children, daughter, Barbara and husband, Rocky Strickler of Eureka; son, Roy and wife, Tamara Higbee of Severy; and daughter, Janice and husband, Gary Davis of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Neal Cemetery with Pastor Tony Pameticky of the Severy Baptist Church officiating.
