Michael William Whittaker of Augusta, died on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 77.

He was born on April 13, 1948, in Wichita, the son of Clive Charles and Ella Louise (Patteson) Whittaker. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1966. He then attended Washburn University for a year before joining the United States Navy. He served with honor and dignity in the Navy for over twenty years, being honorably discharged in the late ‘80s as E-6 Petty Officer. After his discharge, he returned to Eureka to take care of his parents. He drove a school bus in Eureka during this time. After Louise passed away in 2003, Mike moved to Augusta.

Mike lived a solitary life, but he did enjoy shooting black powder rifles and had a close connection with his cousins, Rusty and Loren.

He is survived by two brothers, Robert Russell Whittaker of Aiken, South Carolina, and J.G. Whittaker of Sabetha; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Clive Charles Whittaker III.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 23, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, with Rev. Linda Pope of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 2712.  Cremation has been effected. Koup Family Funeral Home is overseeing arrangements.
