Michael George Meyer, II, of Wichita, formerly of Eureka, died on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Azria Healthcare in Wichita, at the age of 90.
He was born on June 20, 1935, in Halstead, Kansas, the son of Michael George and Phyllis (Arrowsmith) Meyer. He was raised in Newton until the age of twelve when his father died. The family then lived on a rented farmhouse near Severy. He graduated from Severy High School with the Class of 1953. He moved around for work, eventually settling in Wichita. Mike worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
On June 10, 1956, Mike was united in marriage to Esther Eileen Van Royen in Severy. They made their home in Maize where they raised their family. To this union, four children were born. In the early 2000’s, they retired in Eureka. Esther preceded him in death on March 9, 2004. He later lived in Harper and spent the last four years in assisted living in Wichita.
Mike was a true storyteller and an enthusiastic jokester, whose quick wit brought joy to his family and friends.
He was a member of the Harper Christian Church.
Mike is survived by his children: Peggy Jo and husband, Paul Smith, of Haysville, Kansas; Patty Lynn and husband, Dave Tucker, of Eureka; Michael George, III, and wife, Ruth Meyer, of Valley Center; and Mark Isaac and wife, Annette Meyer, of Harper; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Ray Meyer of Huntsville, Alabama, Richard Meyer of Haysville, Kansas, and Kathleen Blackburn of British Columbia, Canada; and two step-brothers, Tony Bartunek and Jimmy Bartunek of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Betty Zanderberg; and step-brother, Kenny Bartunek.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 28, 2025, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Jennifer Jones of the Haysville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Reece Cemetery, Reece.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
