Marvin Butler of Eureka, Kansas, died on July 3, 2026, at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater, Kansas at the age of 90.
Marvin was born August 19, 1935, near Tonovay, Kansas, the son of Benjamin Harrison and Ruth Elizabeth (Nuckolls) Butler. He was raised in the Tonovay area and graduated from Tonovay High School. He grew up with a deep love for sports and was an avid, lifelong KU Jayhawk basketball fan.
On January 17, 1958, Marvin was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Stuber in Eureka, where they happily made their home. Throughout his life, Marvin was a jack of all trades. Though he worked for Cook's Aluma-Fab and Hall Construction, he was self-employed for most of his career. Upon retiring, he truly cherished the time he spent with his family, friends, and grandchildren, and always looked forward to catching the next basketball game.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; sons: Bradley Butler and wife Debby of Eureka, Kansas; Dan Butler and wife Valarie of Eureka, Kansas; daughter, Janet and husband, Jeremy Law of Cleveland, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Joshua Butler and wife Mckenzi of Eureka, Kansas; Cynthia Butler of Olathe, Kansas; Adam Lawrence and wife Rachelle of Harrison, Missouri; Jaclyn Bradshaw and husband Justin of Belton, Missouri; Austin Law of Cleveland, Missouri; Brooke Law of Cleveland, Missouri; Jennifer Gardner of Eureka, Kansas; Michael Stafford of El Dorado, Kansas; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Alpha Hall, Winifred Rader, Benjamin Butler, Jr., Louis Butler, Leo Butler, Raymond Butler, Virginia Anderson, and Viola Swisher.
