Marlene Kay Ward of Eureka, died on Monday, September 21, 2015, at her home in Eureka, at the age of 56.
She was born on March 15, 1959, in Medicine Lodge, the daughter of Owen Samuel and Wilma Frankie (Thorne) McCormick. She was raised in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. After graduation, she worked in Emporia and then moved to Eureka and worked for the Prairie Hills Nursing Home as activity director. On May 31, 1985, she was united in marriage to Roger Ward in Eureka, where they made their home.
She was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roger of the home; three children, daughter, Eva Ward of El Dorado; and two sons, Joseph Ward of El Dorado; and Samuel Ward of Wichita; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Olene Harris of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Jolene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Craighead of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
