Leota Louise Davis

Leota Louise Davis of rural Eureka, died on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her home, at the age of 78.

She was born on August 2, 1939, in Gasconade township, Missouri, the daughter of Cornelius and Clara (Calhoun) VanNess. She was raised in Missouri until age thirteen when the family moved to Wichita. Leota graduated from Wichita North High School. On December 29, 1960, Leota was united in marriage to Donald Lee Davis in Kay County, Oklahoma. They made their home in Wichita. They lived all around the Wichita area, Clinton, Oklahoma, and Rose Hill. They retired to Eureka in 1995.

She is survived by her husband, Don of the home; three children, Clara “Louise” and husband, Terry Brown of Wichita; Larry Everett Davis of Eureka; and Linda Marie and husband, Rocky Crossman of Wichita; two grandchildren, Marie and Melissa; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Dorothy Price of Scottsdale, Arizona; Eldon VanNess of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Walt VanNess of Haysville; Donna Wright of California; and Floyd and Lloyd VanNess of Grove Springs, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cornelius Calen VanNess, Jr.; and two sisters, Velma Price; and Delores Welch.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Chaplain Larry McCrary of Serenity Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
