Listen to Obituary

Floyd Gene Dickinson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Eureka on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on February 10, 1947, in Coffeyville, Floyd was the son of Frank and Glenn (Norris) Dickinson. He was raised in South Coffeyville, attending Thompson Grade School before continuing his education at Labette County Community High School in Altamont. After graduating, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University.

He dedicated years working on the family ranch with his dad and brother. On June 27, 1969, Floyd married Ruby Jo Nance in Miami, Oklahoma, and this loving union brought two children into their lives. After the ranch sold in 1984, he transitioned to a new role as a machinist at Warburton Valve in Coffeyville. In 2000, the family moved to Eureka, where Floyd began working in maintenance at El Dorado Correctional Facility, a position he held until his retirement in 2013.

A devout Christian, Floyd found salvation late in life and consistently cherished his faith. He possessed a boundless willingness to help others, truly never meeting a stranger. A natural problem solver who always kept busy, he enjoyed working with his hands and was renowned for his ability to fix anything. He embraced the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and camping. While his youth held a passion for muscle cars, this love evolved into an appreciation for all types of automobiles as he grew older.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; one son, Michael and wife, Jen Dickinson of Shawnee; six grandchildren: Taylor, Eric, Joshua, Christian, Olivia, and Jude; daughter-in-law, Shonna Dickinson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and his twin brother, Lloyd Dickinson of Clayton, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Frank Dickinson; and a half-sister, Greta Criswell.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2025, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Clark officiating. Cremation has been effected.
