Eva “LaVerne” Ashlock of Eureka, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 75.
LaVerne was born on January 22, 1941, in Quincy, the daughter of Freddie and Dolores (Williams) Ashlock. She was baptized at the Quincy Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Hamilton High School. She raised three children, and was a homemaker most of her life. She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, and always was asked to bring her deviled eggs to family gatherings. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd and Floyd Ashlock of Quincy; one daughter, Janine Ashlock of Eureka; one granddaughter, Alissa; mother, Dolores; two sisters, Linda Corbin of Emporia; and Elsie and husband, Arnold Nichols of Eureka; two nieces, Stephanie and husband, Dan Harber of Eureka; and Jill Noller of Topeka; two nephews, Phil and wife, Tonya Nichols of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and Tony Noller of Emporia; four great-nieces, Cali and husband, Robert Knox of Eureka; Casey and Caytee Harber of Eureka, and Corbi Tenpenny of Topeka; two great-nephews, Jacob Nichols of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Riley Tenpenny of Topeka; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, great-nephew, Tyler Nichols, and brother-in-law, Steve Corbin.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 19, 2016, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Jon Petty of the Cowboy Church of Toronto officiating. Interment will follow at Virgil Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
