David T. “Sailor” Pugh
David Teter Pugh of Eureka, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 82.
He was born on November 23, 1932, in Iola, Kansas to Ralph Owen and Elizabeth (Teter) Pugh. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. After his schooling, he joined the United States Navy where he served with honor and dignity aboard the USS Yorktown as squadron commander in Korea and Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1970, after which, David was a sheet metal worker in Texas for 20 years. He retired to Eureka in 1989.
In 1958, David married Josephine Goffredo. To this union, 4 children were born. The marriage later ended in divorce. On October 26, 1969, David married Edna Patton, in Marble Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death.
David was a member of the VFW Post #1174 of El Dorado, Kansas.
David is survived by four children, daughters, Tammy Pugh, Annie Pierce, and Kathy Mariner all of Mount Vernon, Washington; and son, Jim Pugh of Bethel Washington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Pugh of Santa Rosa, California; and two sisters, Karon Cornett of Eureka; and Peggy Owings of Paola, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Junebug Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
