Curtis Edward Lynes of El Dorado, formerly of Eureka, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at his home in El Dorado, at the age of 65.
He was born on January 18, 1950, in Appleton City, Missouri, the son of Cleo and Royalyn (Dale) Lynes. The family moved to Eureka while Curtis was young and he was raised in Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School with the Class of 1968. After his schooling, he joined the United States Army where he served in Vietnam with honor and dignity.
After his discharge, he returned to Eureka. He worked for Cessna in Wichita and later Boeing. He retired from Boeing in 2005. On August 23, 1975, Curtis was united in marriage to Janet Elaine Rhynard in Mulvane. They made their home in Wichita.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of the home; four children, Angela Lynes, Michelle Lynes, Natalie Slider, and Jamie Lynes, all of Wichita; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Dale Lynes of Moran; and sister, Mary Thornton of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Suszko, and one niece, Brandi Lynes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 28, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor John Craighead of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
