Corylee Martin, of Eureka, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, at the age of 81.
She was born July 27, 1935, in Eureka, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Messenger ) Martin. Corylee was raised in Eureka and attended local schools, graduating from Eureka High School. Following graduation she went to work for the Eureka Police Department, where she was the lead dispatcher for 38 years; and it was her life. Corylee was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka, Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters, and Rebekah’s Lodge.
Corylee is survived by one sister, Dorothy Gook of Fountain Valley, CA; one brother, Charles Martin of Eureka, KS; and many nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes Sherry Vickery, Marilyn Fritz, Carolyn Shepherd, Raymond Johnson, and Bob Johnson, whom she loved as though they were her own children. Their mother, Vera Mae Johnson, was one of Corylee’s best friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, of Eureka; sister, Lucy Mae Presswood; and brother, Alden Frederick “Fred” Martin, both of Houston, TX.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 7, 2017, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, with Pastor Birger Draget of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wichita, officiating.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family has requested that memorials be made to the United Methodist Church. Donations may be left in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O.
