Charles Albert Williams of Toronto, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, in Chanute at the age of 83.

He was born on November 20, 1931, in Pleasant Grove Township, Greenwood County, Kansas, the son of Nelsey Harrison and Cora Mae (Windel) Williams. He was raised in the Toronto area and graduated from Toronto High School. Charlie was born, and lived his entire life in the same house, on which he began farming and ranching after his schooling.

On March 5, 1954, Charlie was united in marriage to Virginia Nickels in Winfield, Kansas. They made their home on the farm. To this union, three children were born. Virginia preceded him in death on March 6, 2005.

He was a member of the Toronto United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association, a lifetime member of the NRA, the Kansas Farm Bureau, the National Trappers Association, the USD 389 school board, Greenwood County Soil Conservation Board, and was a 4-H leader often helping with woodworking and fur harvesting.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary and husband, Rod Eastman of Emporia; Carol and husband, George Throckmorton of Altoona; and Ruth and husband, Don King of Toronto; three grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; one sister, Ruth Ailene Carter of Chula Vista, California; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Alessandra Throckmorton; and one sister, Colus Carlburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 6, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Toronto United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Toronto Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 3, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Kansas Fur Harvesters Association or to the Greenwood County 4-H Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
