Charles William “Chuck” “Charlie” Martin of El Dorado, KS, formerly of Eureka, KS, went to join his departed loved ones Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the El Dorado Care and Rehabilitation Center in El Dorado, at the age of 87.

Chuck was born July 8, 1939, in Eureka, KS the son of Fred and Helen Louise (Messenger) Martin. He was raised in Eureka, attending local schools, and graduated with the EHS Class of 1957. In 1961, Chuck enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served with dignity and honor for seven years. It was during that time that he met the love of his life, Beverly Ann (Gaines) Beuthin, of Eureka. They married July 12, 1963, thus beginning a 63-year journey filled with love, laughter, joy and the occasional hiccup that life threw their way. Together they raised three remarkable sons whom he loved fiercely and supported always.

Life was filled with camping trips across the U.S. National Parks and Canada, and to Michigan to visit beloved extended family – the Beuthins and Goodmans. Following his military service, Chuck started a career in Security in Wichita, KS first at Wesley Hospital and later with the Osteopathic Hospital of Wichita. In 1963, their journey took them full circle when they returned to Eureka to become proprietors of the Chuck Wagon Truckstop and Motel, eventually including an RV Park, across from the Eureka Downs Horse Racing Track, and managing the local Casey’s.

When they finally slowed down enough to retire, they moved to El Dorado, KS where friends, grandchildren, and bowling leagues filled their days. Chuck, Poppa to his grandkids, will be greatly missed, but warmly remembered by all who crossed his path in this life. It was a life well-lived.

Chuck/Charlie is survived by his beloved wife Beverly Ann Martin of El Dorado, KS; his children: Lawrence Beuthin and wife, Robin of Halstead, KS; Douglas Martin and wife, Linda of Emporia, KS; and Mark Martin and wife, Amy of Emporia, KS; six grandchildren: Caitlin Martin; Tyler Martin and wife, Brianna; Alan Martin; Kyle Miller; Kinsey Miller; and Kaitlynne Baker; three great-grandchildren: Camren Martin, Athena Martin, and Freya Martin; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings: Lucy Mae Presswood of New Caney, TX; Fredrick Martin of Pearland, TX; Dorothy Gook of Fountain Valley, CA; and Corylee Martin of Eureka, KS.

Cremation has been effected and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
