Almeta Rae Beck of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Oxford Vista Assisted Living Facility, in Wichita, at the age of 81.

She was born on July 21, 1945, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Raymond and Margaret Almeta (Thompson) Lahar. She was raised in the El Dorado and Eureka area. She graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1963. As a youth, Almeta attended the First Christian Church and was baptized in El Dorado, Kansas in 1955.

Almeta served in the United States Women’s Army Corps from 1963-1967. She reached the rank of SP5 with Medical Corpsman Training and graduated from X-Ray Technician School. On February 16, 1968, Almeta was united in marriage to William Harold Beck, Jr. They made their home in Great Bend, Kansas until 1972, when they returned to Eureka. Almeta worked in the medical field for 25 years with 23 of those years spent at the Bluestem Medical Clinic in Eureka.

She is survived by two sons: William Christopher Beck of Wichita, Kansas and Darren Illie Beck of Saint Paul, MN; four grandchildren: Jacob William Beck, LySandra Leah Beck, Rachel Marie Beck, and Michael Christopher Beck, all of Wichita, Kansas; and one great-granddaughter, Ezmae Hazel Beck of Wichita, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margaret Lahar; her husband William Harold Beck, Jr; and her brother Raymond Eugene Lahar.

Per her request, memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 3, 2026, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka with Pastor Gary Boles of the Hamilton Community Fellowship officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, where she will be laid to rest next to Harold.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Patriot Services Corp. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P. O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online at koupfunerals.com.
